Bajaj Auto has registered a staggering 21 per cent drop in overall motorcycle sales in February 2015, as compared to the same period in 2014. The Pune-based manufacturer sold 2.16 lakh motorcycles in the last month as compared to 2.73 lakh units it had managed in February 2014.
While Bajaj has been showing a decline in sales numbers for the past couple of months, this is the first time in a long while that the negative growth has entered into double digits. The company’s export numbers also fell by over 20 per cent. Bajaj’s commercial vehicle division has also taken a major hit, as overall sales declined by over 32 per cent.
The lack of a scooter in its line-up seems to be one of the reasons for the company’s mediocre performance. With just one month left in this financial year, it seems unlikely that Bajaj will be able to beat its previous year’s sales numbers.
