Continuing its stellar performance, Bajaj has recorded a 26 per cent growth in overall motorcycle sales, last month. The Pune-based manufacturer sold 2.64 lakh motorcycles in March 2016 as compared to 2.09 lakh units it had managed in the corresponding period, last year.
In the domestic market itself, Bajaj sold 34 per cent more motorcycles and commercial vehicles than it had managed, a year ago. Export numbers rose by three per cent as the company shipped off 1.01 lakh vehicles to its other global markets. Even the commercial vehicles department had a good month as it recorded its highest ever sales for any March.
The Avenger 150 Street, thanks to its unique character and user-friendly ergonomics has become one of the best-selling premium commuters. The CT100 on the other hand, which is the most affordable motorcycle in the country, has been capitalising on its lucrative price tag. Both these motorcycles, with cumulative sales of over 60,000 units, have played an important role in helping Bajaj retain its third position in the Indian two-wheeler industry.
