Bajaj has announced a seven per cent dip in motorcycle sales in July 2017 as compared to July 2016. However with an overall sales figure of 2.85 lakh motorcycles, Bajaj has shot past TVS as the third largest Indian two-wheeler manufacturer for July.
Of the total number, Bajaj sold 1.74 lakh motorcycles in the domestic market while the remaining 1.11 lakh motorcycles were exported to its global markets. The domestic sales numbers are five per cent lower than in July 2016, while export numbers have dropped by 10 per cent. So far in the financial year, Bajaj has recorded overall sales of 11.58 lakh motorcycles, which is 10 per cent lower than the corresponding period in 2016.
The alarming drop in sales is a result of demonetisation and the move to BS-IV emission norms. However with a healthy monsoon this year, the manufacturer is expecting the numbers to bounce back by festive season.
