A heavily camouflaged Bajaj Pulsar SS400 has been spotted testing in the country recently. The Pulsar SS400 or ‘Super Sports400’ was unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo along with the sports cruiser, the Pulsar CS400. The SS400 is the first ever Pulsar to come with a full-fairing and is expected to be launched next year.
The Pulsar SS400 will be based on the same single-cylinder engine platform as the KTM Duke 390. It will also borrow the 375cc engine, which will be reworked to give the Pulsar SS400 its own unique character. The Pulsar SS400 will produce less power than the Duke 390 which would help maintain a sizeable distance between the two. The four-valve liquid-cooled engine will send power through a six-speed gearbox.
The Pulsar SS400 will feature an aggressively sculpted fuel tank and fairing, dual headlamps, clip-on handlebar and split seats, which will also be shared with the Pulsar SS200. The bike also gets upside down telescopic forks, monoshock and disc brakes both at the front and rear. ABS will also be offered considering the power figures.
The Pulsar SS200 is another bike which has been spotted quite a few times and speculations suggest that it will be launched before the Pulsar SS400. Since it was launched, Pulsars have been growing bigger and more powerful. But competitive pricing is something Bajaj has always managed to offer and we expect the same for this bike too. The Pulsar SS400 will compete with the Yamaha R25 once it is launched.
