Bajaj has started the despatch of the newest member of its Discover range, the Discover 150 S, to showrooms. Dealers have stated accepting bookings of the 150cc commuter for a token of Rs 500 and deliveries are expected to commence as soon as the motorcycle is launched.
The Bajaj Discover 150 S is based on the Discover 125 ST's platform and even in terms of design it looks identical to the 125cc commuter. Many components like the instrument cluster, fairing, alloys wheels, body panels among others have been borrowed from the Discover 125 ST parts bin. The Discover 150 S however, gets a black finish for the grab rails and side body panels, which in the Discover 125 ST get a silver accent.
The Discover 150 S will be equipped with telescopic front shock absorbers and a monoshock at the rear. Like the rest of the Discover range, the Discover 150 S will be offered in different variants with optional front disc brake and electric start.
The Discover 150 S will be powered by a four stroke single-cylinder 150cc engine which will be mated to a five-speed gearbox. Power figures are expected to be lower than those of the Pulsar 150 DTS-i to prevent either one of them from eating into the other motorcycle's share.
Once launched, the Discover 150 S will be the most expensive motorcycle in the Discover line-up, until the semi-faired version of the Discover, which has been spied testing a few times before, is launched. This new Discover is also expected to share the engine, gearbox and other major components with the Discover 150 S, though there isn't any word about this from the company. For now, the Discover 150 S will slot in between the Discover 125 ST and the Pulsar 150 DTS-i. It will compete with other entry-level 150cc commuter motorcycles like the Yamaha SZ-R and the Hero Achiever.
