Bajaj have come out saying they expect to sell 50,000 units of motorcycles from the ‘V’ brand in India. The two-wheeler manufacturer has also said they have decided on extending the brand to other segments after 12-18 months.
Sumeet Narang, Vice President of Marketing for Bajaj, said, "This is the sixth brand from our stable. We expect to sell 50,000 units of 150cc commuter segment 'V' brand motorcycles in the next 12-18 months using metal from the dismantled INS Vikrant." He said that the company was 'open to evaluate' on whether to extend 'V' brand to other bike segments, but that would depend on acceptance level and to which category of consumers. Bajaj is betting big on the V15. It’s expecting the monthly sales for this bike stay close to 15,000-20,000 units a month.
Bajaj have also confirmed that the brand will continue after the metal of the dismantled warship Vikrant gets exhausted. He said despite the motorcycle market being low-spirited, the three launches last year were successful to beat the market trend. One of them being the CT-100B which became India’s cheapest motorcycle.
