Bajaj Motorcycles is planning to decrease the price of its most affordable motorcycle – the CT100. The company claims that the bike has helped them get back their market share in the ever competing mass market segment.
By reducing the price of the CT100, the company believes that it will attract more customers to this bike. At the end of the day, it’s the price that decides the buy. This makes sense, as the customers at this price point and segment are very cost sensitive. Along with the price, fuel efficiency matters too and that can’t be less. The spoke version of the CT100 is priced at Rs 35,034 (ex-showroom Delhi), whereas the alloy version is sold at Rs (38,034 ex-showroom Delhi). While the Pune-based manufacturer hasn’t mentioned the quantum of reduction, we believe it could range between Rs 500 to Rs 800. The reason being the CT100 is a very thin margin motorcycle and it works in everyone’s favour only when sold in volumes.
Interestingly, Bajaj is also working on improving the fuel efficiency of the Platina. It plans to cross the 100kmpl barrier, where motorcycles like the Hero Splendor iSmart are enjoying its position.
