In its quest for better growth Bajaj is looking to expand into international markets. Bajaj is looking upto its partners Kawasaki and KTM to fuel this ambition. The company exports few motorcycles and three-wheelers, and has a strong presence in our neighbouring countries and African markets.
"What we had not addressed up until recently was broadly two markets – the markets of ASEAN and Brazil, which are very large motorcycle markets, and of course the very developed and mature markets of US, Europe, Japan and Australia," its Managing Director, Rajiv Bajaj, told Reuters.
"In the next 12 months, we hope that we can address some more markets together, perhaps markets like Thailand or Malaysia in the ASEAN region and, hopefully Brazil as well, as far as Latam as concerned," Bajaj said."It is in this manner that we try to build our export business model - some markets as Bajaj, by Bajaj. Some markets as Kawasaki Bajaj, through that partnership, and in some markets as KTM." he added.
Bajaj makes one out of three KTM motorcycles sold worldwide, which includes the KTM Duke 125, 200, 390. Bajaj expects this figure to go up to two by 2017. It also exports the Discover to few markets and its flagship model, the Pulsar NS200 is sold as Kawasaki Bajaj Pulsar NS200 in Indonesian market.
