Few days ago we reported about five launches from Bajaj Motorcycles in the next five months. The top honcho of the company has said that out of these launches, the Pune-based manufacturer will launch the facelifted Avenger, which will hit the market before June.
First launched almost 10 years ago, the Avenger is the most affordable cruiser one can buy in India. In its 10 years of existence, Bajaj Motorcycles has given it three updates, with the major one being an engine update in 2010. Even after so many updates, the Avenger continued to look the same. The Avenger continued to be sold in decent numbers, because of its low slung seat and comfortable riding position. But the major reason is its price point, which was under Rs 1 lakh.
Bajaj might give a major mechanical and cosmetic upgrade to the upcoming Avenger. Mechanically, we can expect the Avenger to get the proven 200cc engine from the Pulsar NS200. Interestingly, the Avenger was first sold as a 200cc engine, which was later given a 220cc heart from the Pulsar 220F. However, going back to a 200cc engine makes sense because is far more powerful and reliable than the old ones. Aesthetically, Bajaj might do a major overhaul to the Avenger but won’t play with the cruiser’s design language.
