It seems that Bajaj isn’t in the mood to slow down as it is planning to launch a new flagship model of its Discover commuter range in June. The Discover 150F will be the most powerful motorcycle in the company’s commuter range when it will be launched next month and also the first Discover model to feature a semi-fairing.
Previous spy shots show a striking similarity between the Discover 150F and the now discontinued Discover 125 ST. Bajaj has borrowed many components like alloy wheels, exhaust, seat, grab rail and the kick-starter in an attempt to lower costs. Being based on the Discover 125ST’s architecture, the Discover 150F will also get a monoshock, disc brake at the front as well as a kick-start. The Discover 150F will be powered by a single-cylinder 150cc 4-valve DTS-i engine producing around 13bhp through a five-speed gearbox.
With the semi-fairing, the Discover 150F is sure to attract a lot of customers which might also include those who were planning to buy the Pulsar 150. But Bajaj seems ready to make the sacrifice in view of its long term plans. The Discover 150F will be positioned between the Discover 125T and the Pulsar 150. It will compete with the other semi-faired bikes- Hero Ignitor and the Honda Stunner, though being more powerful, we expect it to be priced higher than both of these.
