-2025 Chetak launch early next year
-Likely to get a bigger battery
-Could get more features
Bajaj is gearing up to have a busy financial year for its Chetak EV brand. The company will launch its most affordable variant in a few days. But the interesting part is that it will upgrade the Chetak EV early next year.
According to Rakesh Sharma, one of the top honchos of the company, Chetak as a brand did well last fiscal year and it believes it will grow in the current year as well. However, to fuel that growth, there’s an entry-level Chetak variant planned for the Indian market. The photos of this model have already been leaked, and there’s a massive amount of cost-cutting involved, to get the pricing as low as possible. This variant is expected to get the maximum sales for Bajaj.
But the upgraded variant which the Pune-based manufacturer is planning to launch in early 2025, could see a lot of new features and also upgrade in range and performance. Currently, the Chetak is available in two variants – Premium and Urbane. The former has a price tag of Rs 1.47 lakh and the latter is at 1.23 lakh. The main differences between these two variants are in battery capacity and overall riding range. The 2025 variant could see a bigger battery along with some additional new features.
Currently, the Chetak is the third highest-selling electric scooter brand in the country and with the introduction of the affordable variant, Bajaj could get to the second spot in a few months. But it is interesting to see how the brand has managed to build great confidence among Indian buyers even with a design that is too stylish and not neutral.
