The Bajaj Dominar 400, which was available in two variants, will soon be available with ABS as standard. The non-ABS variant has been discontinued.
When the bike was launched, the Bajaj Dominar 400 was available with the ABS system as an optional extra. While the standard variant is priced at 1.44 lakhs, the dual-channel ABS one costs an additional Rs 14,100. However, with more than 80 per cent of the Dominar 400 customers opting for the ABS variant, Bajaj has now decided to discontinue the base variant. We do not expect any change in price for the ABS variant, and it will continue to retail at Rs 1.58 lakhs.
The government has passed a regulation requiring motorcycles above 125cc capacity launched after April 2018 to feature ABS as a standard feature. As for the models currently on sale, ABS will have to be offered as standard post April 2019. While this is sure to bump up the prices, it is a small price to pay to make roads a safer place for motorcyclists.
