- Chetak e-scooter to be showcased in Pune
- Official launch in January
- Likely to be priced around Rs 1 lakh
Bajaj Auto will showcase their first electric two-wheeler, the Chetak in Pune on 14 November. This is the first time the company will be showcasing this scooter in Maharashtra.
Unfortunately, this event is for the media and the two-wheeler enthusiasts and prospective customers won’t be allowed to witness the final ride of the Chetak electric yatra. Through this marketing initiative, the Pune-based manufacturer is trying to create the brand awareness and at the same time gauge everyone’s reaction to this new EV.
The Urbanite Chetak is powered by an electric motor that draws its power from an IP67 rated lithium-ion battery. It will feature two drive modes (Eco, Sport), a reverse assist mode, regenerative braking and an on-board Intelligent Battery Management System (IBMS) to control charge and discharge seamlessly. On a full charge, the e-scooter will return a range on 95km in Eco mode and 85km in Sport mode.
Bajaj plans to start selling the Chetak EV in limited cities from January. It doesn’t plan to setup its own charging infrastructure like Ather but will provide home-charging solution to all its customers. In terms of pricing, we are expecting a price tag of around Rs 85,000 for the Chetak EV. Unfortunately, the full-specifications of the scooter are yet to be revealed. We are expecting this to happen in January.
