Bajaj Auto will showcase a new cruiser concept at the upcoming 2014 Auto Expo reports Motorbeam. The production version of this new cruiser is expected be sold in 2015 and will be positioned above the Avenger, the only cruiser in the company’s portfolio.
The Avenger was inspired from the Kawasaki Eliminator which was sold at a premium in the country. The bike was first launched with an 180cc engine and was later moved to 200cc and currently sports a 220cc engine. However, over the years the Pune-based manufacturer hasn’t made any major cosmetic updates to the cruiser but still is raking in decent sales numbers. We can expect Bajaj to use technologies from their current range of motorcycles like the Pulsar 200NS or from the KTM counterparts. The new engine might get liquid-cooling with fuel-injection which delivers decent amount of power and torque.
Only few companies have a presence in the cruiser segment in India with Royal Enfield leading the pack. Let’s wait and watch if the new Bajaj cruiser will be any better than the Avenger. Stay tuned to BikeWale as we get more details for you.
