Bajaj is going to lift the warps off its newest commuter motorcycle brand, called V, tomorrow. This new range will be positioned between the Pulsar and the Discover line-up, and pays homage to the country's first aircraft carrier – the INS Vikrant.
The new V range of commuter motorcycles draw inspiration from the cafe racer genre of motorcycles. The teasers and previous spy shots hint that the V will be based on the Avenger's platform, and borrow a number of bits and pieces from the cruiser. The wheels, brakes, suspension, chassis and even the 150cc mill are expected to be carried over from the Avenger. The cosmetic parts though are completely new. The tank, headlamp fairing, rear panels have been styled to don the look of a traditional cafe racer. However, while a cafe racer is expected to get a sporty riding position, the elongated seat, footpeg placing and the handlebar hint at a more commuter-ish approach.
The biggest talking point about the V though, is that Bajaj has used recycled metal from the INS Vikrant's remains to manufacture the bike after the aircraft carrier was decommissioned and eventually dismantled. While Bajaj has refused to divulge many details about the V, we expect it to be offered with multiple engine options, just like the Pulsar and the Discover. Stay tuned to BikeWale for the latest updates from the unveiling tomorrow.
