- New ethanol Pulsar NS160 unveiled
- Showcased at an expo
- Runs on 100 per cent ethanol
A few days ago, we discussed Bajaj’s intention to launch a new ethanol motorcycle. Now, the company has unveiled an ethanol-powered Pulsar NS160 at the India Bio-Energy & Tech Expo 2024.
This ethanol-powered Pulsar NS160 is E100 compliant, which means the motorcycle can run on 100 per cent ethanol. This flex-fuel motorcycle can also run on various ratios of petrol and ethanol blend. The Pune-based manufacturer already sells E27-compliant motorcycles in other markets.
There aren’t many details on this motorcycle as of now, but the hardware is likely to remain the same. The 160cc single-cylinder engine makes 17bhp of peak power and max torque of 14.6Nm. A lot of work must have been done on the fuel supply system and the tank to make it E100 compliant.
For the last few years, the Indian government has been pushing brands to focus more on ethanol as it is more affordable and also cleaner. As a result of this, brands like Bajaj have started working on motorcycles that could bring the emissions down. Currently, there isn’t much info if this Pulsar NS160 will be officially launched this year as there are barely any petrol stations that deliver E100 fuel.
