Bajaj recently unveiled the new Pulsar 150NS in its production-ready form, at a Trade Expo in Istanbul, Turkey. Designed along the lines of the bigger Pulsar 200NS, the Pulsar 150NS is expected to be launched in India in the next few months.
The Pulsar 150NS is built on a revised version of the Pulsar 200NS’ perimeter frame with a slimmer rear subframe, to suit the smaller tyre. The foot pegs, swingarm, crash guards, Y-spoke alloy wheels, instrument cluster, turn indicators as well as the clip on handlebar have been borrowed from the Pulsar NS 200 parts bin, though it gets smaller 33mm forks. It also gets a single piece seat and under belly exhaust and a dark visor, though the latter might not be offered in the Indian market.
Though the Pulsar 150NS might not get a fuel-injection system, the 150cc engine is expected to be equipped with triple-spark technology which should translate into better performance and efficiency. The Pulsar has been one of highest selling two-wheeler series in the country and has helped Bajaj change its image from that of a scooter manufacturer to a youth-centric brand. The current Pulsar line-up however, is long overdue for an overhaul and the Pulsar 150NS will up the ante against other premium 150cc motorcycles like the Honda CB Unicorn 160, Yamaha FZ-S Version 2.0, Hero Xtreme Sports and the Suzuki Gixxer.
