-Bajaj Chetak to get six colour options
-Has a claimed range of 95kms on a full charge
-To go on sale in January 2020
Bajaj took the wraps off the Urbanite Chetak, its first electric scooter in India. While production has begun, the scooter will go on sale only in January 2020 with a choice of six colour options.
The manufacturer will offer the Urbanite Chetak in metallic shades of black, white, silver, blue, red and gold. The chrome highlights on the front fairing and the grab rails further add to the scooter’s retro appeal. The Urbanite Chetak’s bodywork, especially the side panels and round headlamp have been inspired by the legendary Chetak. However, the LED lighting and slightly sharper lines give it a modern look.
Furthermore, it also gets a retro-looking, round instrument cluster with functions that are anything but retro. The digital display is Bluetooth-enabled and connects with the rider’s smartphone through the dedicated Chetak app. While details of the motor are unknown, the Chetak draws power from an IP67 rated lithium-ion battery that offers a range of 95kms in Eco mode and 85km in Sport mode when fully charged.
Bajaj has not commenced bookings for the Urbanite Chetak yet although we expect it begins sometime in December. The company is planning to launch the scooter in India in a phased manner beginning with Pune and Bengaluru.
