- Bajaj Urbanite e-scooter spied again
- Launch on 16 October
- Will feature an electric powertrain and retro-styling based on the iconic Chetak
With Bajaj Auto gearing up for the launch of the all-new electric scooter on 16 October under the Urbanite brand name, a test mule of the e-scooter has been spied again. The spied images provide a profile and rear-three quarters view of the heavily camouflaged e-scooter on the test.
According to the invite sent out by the company with the tagline ‘Hamara Kal’, the upcoming Urbanite e-scooter will hark the essence of the iconic Chetak scooter, but in a modern avatar. The company is tight-lipped about the specs of the electric powertrain which will be known directly at the time of launch. However, from looking at the spied and design sketches till now, the Urbanite e-scooter will come with a single-sided front fork assembly and a monoshock at the rear while braking duties will be done by a disc-drum and all-drum setups. The e-scooter will ride on 12-inch alloy wheels.
Furthermore, post the official launch of the e-scooter, Bajaj Auto will be introducing the product in the market in a phase-wise manner. In terms of pricing, expect the Bajaj Urbanite e-scooter to launched carrying a sticker price of Rs 1 lakh, thus making it a competitive product against its closest rival, the Ather 450 which currently retails at Rs 1.08 lakhs (ex-showroom).
