The Bajaj Urbanite has been spotted testing in India once again. Although the test mule was fully camouflaged; it revealed a few details about the rear section of the scooter. 

It sports a smooth-flowing design for the side panels with a stretched-out split tail lamp setup. The scooter also gets a single-piece grab rail with a slightly thick centre portion which is likely to act as a pillion backrest. Earlier spy images have revealed that Bajaj has taken styling cues from its iconic Chetak scooter. Hence, the Urbanite features retro-inspired, curvy bodywork.  It even gets a round headlamp with LED DRLs and round mirrors.

The exhaust canister isn’t visible but the Urbanite test mule is sure to be powered by an internal combustion engine. However, Bajaj is also expected to introduce electric-powered scooters under the Urbanite brand later. As for cycle parts, the scooter appears to be riding on 12-inch alloy wheels with a suspension setup similar to Vespa scooters at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking is handled by a disc brake at the front. In terms of features, the Urbanite scooter is likely to come with a fully-digital instrument cluster, backlit switchgear and LED lighting for the headlamp and tail lamp.

Bajaj has been testing the Urbanite extensively and is expected to launch the scooter in India by the end of this year or by early 2020. It will go head-on with the upcoming Aprilia maxi-scooter, Suzuki Access 125 and the to-be-launched Activa 125 BSVI in the country.
