- Images reveal more details about the scooter
- Could either be a conventional or an electric scooter
- Expected to be launched by the end of this year
Bajaj has been spotted testing the Urbanite scooter once again, giving us more insights about its upcoming offering. While the previous images showed off only the rear section of the scooter, the newly-surfaced pictures reveal the overall design of what could be the first Urbanite-branded product from Bajaj.
A glimpse at the scooter indicates that Bajaj has used its iconic Chetak as the design inspiration for this offering. Although it was majorly camouflaged, the curvy and stout body panels can be easily noticed. The handlebar-mounted round headlamp seems to be equipped with an LED lamp while the front apron houses flush vertically-placed turn indicators. Moreover, the rear end also boasts of a curvy design theme while it is slightly upswept similar to Vespa models. Notably, the overall styling is the same as the illustration we revealed in February this year.
Bajaj is expected to introduce electric as well as conventional scooters under its Urbanite brand. Owing to the absence of an exhaust canister on the spied mules, it remains unclear if these scooters are running a conventional combustion engine or an electric motor. In terms of cycle parts, the scooters appear to be riding on what could be 12-inch alloy wheels while for braking, it is equipped with a disc at the front. Despite the old-school styling, we expect these scooter to come equipped with a fully-digital instrument cluster.
Bajaj will reportedly launch its first Urbanite offering this year, perhaps by the third quarter. It is expected that Bajaj will start as a small setup initially which will expand into a large-scale retail chain at a later stage.
