Bajaj V12, a more affordable twin of the V15 has now been introduced with a front disc brake. The new disc brake version is priced at Rs 64,372 (ex-showroom, Mumbai), while the regular drum version comes for Rs 61,134. Apart from the addition of a new front disc brake, the vehicle does not get any other cosmetic or mechanical changes.
Bajaj V12 is powered by a 125cc engine that generates 11bhp of power at 7,500rpm and 11Nm of torque at 5,500rpm. With the exception of the 150cc engine, the V12 gets detailing similar to that of its elder sibling – the V15. The only other exceptions here are the slightly contrasting graphics and regular five-spoke alloys used in the V12 instead of the twin-spoke units used in the V15. The bike also gets an analogue fuel gauge instead of a digital one, along with a plastic ring around the ignition keyhole. The other features remain the same including the tank, which the company claims is from the INS Vikrant metal.
Interestingly, the cost difference between the V12 and the V15 is reduced to almost Rs 3,000 as the latter is priced at Rs 67,363. Now, it remains to be seen if this might result in cannibalisation among the twins. Owing to the addition of a front disc brake, Bajaj has surely upped the competition against its rivals like the Honda CB Shine, Hero Glamour and TVS Phoenix 125.
