While Bajaj had confirmed the launch of the V12 and its price in December, the company had stopped short of revealing the technical details. Now, it has been revealed that the V12 is powered by a 124.5cc engine developing 10.5bhp and 11Nm of torque.
The engine is an air-cooled single-cylinder DTS-i unit, which delivers 10.5bhp at 7,500rpm and 11Nm at 5,500rpm. The V12 rides on 18-inch front and 16-inch rear alloy wheels, suspended by conventional telescopic front forks and dual spring rear suspension respectively. The sculpted tank can hold 13 litres of fuel. Unlike the V15, the V12 has to make do with a 130mm drum brake for the front wheel. It also gets tubed tyres instead of the tubeless ones in the V15.
While there aren’t any cosmetic changes over the V15, the V12 does get a different set of paint schemes to differentiate it. Retailing at an introductory price of Rs 56,283 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Bajaj V12 is positioned between the Discover 125 and the Pulsar 135LS. Pegged as a premium 125cc commuter bike, it competes with the likes of the Hero Glamour, Honda CB Shine and the Yamaha Saluto.
