Bajaj recently launched their new brand – the V15 at Rs 62,000 (ex-showroom Delhi) and we’ve ridden the bike.
For now, Bajaj has equipped the V15 with a 240mm disc brake at the front and 130mm drum at the rear. However, depending on how the V15 performs in the Indian market, the Pune-based manufacturer will launch a drum brake version in future. The whole intention to do this is to bring the price down by Rs 800 to Rs 1500. Even though this motorcycle is marketed as a stylish mass market commuter bike, the buyers in this segment are conscious when it comes to the price.
In fact, the company might also offer the V15 without the rear seat cowl in future. Currently, the company is asking for Rs 999 for the cowl as standard but there are a set of buyers who would want the V15 but not the rear seat cowl.
Bajaj is betting big on the V15. It’s expecting the monthly sales for this bike stay close to 15,000-20,000 units a month. The company claims that the V15 will remain in a 150cc avatar, which we find little hard to believe. We believe a smaller capacity version of the V15 will eventually make its way to the Indian market.
