Bajaj has taken the Pulsar AS150 and the Pulsar AS200 off the Indian market. This decision was taken as these bikes haven't been able to get the right kind of sales for the company.
The Pulsar AS200 was launched to add little excitement in the 200cc segment because the market interest on the Pulsar NS200 was on the verge of hitting an all-time low. In order to hold its ground in the growing 200cc segment, the Pune-based manufacturer added a fairing to the NS200 and created a new 'Adventure Sports' brand. But eventually, the market got bored of this bike as well. So in order to replace the replacement of the Pulsar NS200, Bajaj relaunched an updated Pulsar NS200. This one gets a BS-IV engine, new paint schemes, new decals and an engine cowl.
Bajaj tried to experiment with the Pulsar AS150 as they saw a market for a faired 150cc motorcycle. While the Pulsar 150 continues to get a lot of sales, the 'adventure' version of it failed to get a lot of customers. The initial sales were decent but as months passed by, very few dealers showed interest in stocking up that bike.
Bajaj confirmed that it won't kill the AS brand but it will be back with a more purposeful motorcycle. In short, Bajaj's version of the KTM 390 Adventure. But we believe if the updated NS200 fails to get the required sales, again then the Pune-based manufacturer could relaunch an updated AS200 in the future.
