Bajaj Motorcycles is working on a fuel-injected version of the Pulsar NS200 claims an Indonesia site. This version, however, will make it only to the Indonesian market that will help the company revive their sales.
The Pulsar NS200 has been a successful product in India, however, it’s a different story in Indonesia. The current sales have been unsatisfactory and the company wants to make sure it doesn’t lose its spot in the segment. While there are few manufacturers that sell fuel-injected small displacement bikes, Bajaj saw the urge to update the Pulsar NS200 as well.
During the launch of a Bajaj motorcycle few months ago, Rajiv Bajaj had confirmed their plans on developing a fuel- injected Pulsar NS200 and also announced that it will first go to Indonesia to try out that market. When asked about its possible launch in India, he was positive about it but refused to comment further. The Pune-based manufacturer had tried out its hand in fuel-injection technology on the then flagship model, the Pulsar 220FI. However, the sales didn’t pick up due to which the company decidedto switch to carburettor and slashed the price of the bike by almost Rs 10,000.
Interestingly, Bosch, the German auto component manufacturer last week announced its new fuel-injection systems for motorcycles that would cost the same as the carburettor. They claim these new FI systems will replace the current carburettor engines. There is a possibility of Bajaj sourcing this technology for the Pulsar NS200 FI and may be even for their upcoming fully-faired motorcycles.
