- Upcoming Bajaj electric scooter spied testing
- Features design different from the Chetak
- Mechanical specifications not known yet
Bajaj seems to be rigorously testing its upcoming electric scooter. After being spotted testing last month, a camouflaged test mule of the scooter was spied once again recently. And similar to the last time, it was accompanied by the existing Bajaj Chetak e-scooter as well.
The available details about this new electric scooter are scarce at the moment. All that we can decipher from the spy shot is that it will feature a different and more modern design than the Chetak. There’s an upswept tail section, a wide single-piece grab rail, and a seat that looks like a split unit. What’s identical to the Chetak though is the rear alloy wheel design. In the previous spy shots, the instrument cluster of the scooter was evident and it was a circular unit similar to that on the Chetak.
The mechanical specifications will only be known as we get closer to its official debut. This will most likely be a more premium offering than the Chetak with a longer battery range and a higher top speed. As was mentioned by Rajiv Bajaj in the latest release, a majority of the company’s R&D is working towards developing new EV technologies. The company has also commenced work at its new manufacturing plant at Akurdi, Pune, which will be dedicated to producing electric two-wheelers for the domestic as well as export markets.
