- Spotted testing in India
- Likely to feature 250cc or a 400cc engine borrowed from KTM
- Could be launched by the end of 2023
Earlier today, we reported that the Bajaj-Triumph bike’s launch has been delayed, and the updated timeline is set around the end of 2023. Now, spy shots of its latest test mule have surfaced online, and here’s what we know about it from these images.
It’s evident that the joint venture between the Chakan-based bike maker and Triumph Motorcycles is likely to result in multiple models, as we have already seen a scrambler and a neo-retro test bike so far. The most recent spotting was of the latter and it features a round headlight (probably an LED unit), a wide handlebar with bar-end mirrors, and an LED taillight. Similar to the previously seen model, this one also gets a single-piece seat and a grab rail. Moreover, the exhaust on this retro test mule is a single barrel unit, identical to the one tested overseas.
We expect the bike to be available in both 250cc and 400cc engines, borrowed from KTM. And for the hardware, the spy shots reveal USD front forks, a monoshock, and a single front/rear disc brake setup with ABS. The alloy wheels are wrapped in road-biased rubber, which is better suited for this model. That said, the rider triangle seems similar to that of the KTM Duke series’.
We expect Bajaj to launch the 250cc model here as it would be more viable in a price-sensitive market like India. Meanwhile, the 400cc variant could be headed to the European market. An official unveiling will likely happen before the EICMA 2023, after which the production would commence at Bajaj’s Chakan plant. Following this, the lineup would debut globally, and the bikes would reach dealerships in 2024.
