The Benelli 302R was finally launched yesterday at a price tag of Rs 3.48 lakh (ex-showroom pan India). It is the only motorcycle in the segment to get an anti-lock braking system (ABS). We recently rode the 302R on the road, but for those of you who prefer the skimmed milk equivalent of reading to the full-fat product, here’s a photo gallery.
The 302R is equipped with a twin headlamp unit with integrated LED DRLs. The sharp styling increases the overall appeal of the fascia.
The exhaust of the 302R is definitely a looker. The twin pod setup coupled with the sharp exterior enhances its cosmetic aspect.
The 302R is powered by a 300cc parallel twin motor which churns out 38.26bhp at 11,500rpm and peak torque of 26.5Nm at 10,000rpm. Gearbox is six-speed.
The part-analog part-digital instrumentation looks quite basic and offers information like speedometer, odometer, two trip meters, fuel gauge and gear indicator.
The split seats have decent cushioning and offer a comfortable ride. The Benelli branding on the passenger seat gives out a premium feel.
The quality of switchgear is good and is easy to operate. The ABS switch has been placed separately on the handlebar.
It gets first-in-segment dual discs up front. The rear gets a single disc setup. As mentioned in the introduction, ABS is standard on this bike and can be switched off.
The 302R has a kerb weight of 198kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 14 litres.
The 302R is available in three colours – white rosso, silver verde and red nero.
