Benelli is going to launch its 302cc Kawasaki Ninja and Yamaha YZF-R3 competitor in India tomorrow. Formerly called the Tornado 302, the 302R uses a 302cc parallel-twin engine which produces 36bhp at 12,000rpm and a peak torque of 27Nm at 9,000rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission.
The Benelli 302R boasts of a couple of features which are missing in its rivals. To begin with, the bike gets ABS as a standard. The 302R also features inverted front forks and rides on Metzeler M5 tyres. Although the bike borrows its rear end design from its naked sibling, the TNT 300, the front split headlight and fairing is completely new. The bike also features a new dual outlet exhaust which has a brawny note to it.
We are expecting the Benelli 302R to be priced around Rs 3.5 lakhs. Bookings for the bike have already begun and deliveries will begin right after the launch.
