What is it?
The BX 250 is a supermoto from Benelli – the fastest growing premium motorcycle brand in India. While the supermoto segment in India is still at a very nascent stage, the BX 250 could really be the game changer. The Italian engineers have done a very good job, when it comes to styling and performance.
At first glance, the BX 250 looks like a small and compact motorcycle, but isn’t. It is meant to take on bad roads, due to which the weight has been kept to minimum. The BX 250 is powered by a 249cc single-cylinder liquid cooled engine, which churns out peak power of 25bhp and 21Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox.
This engine is fuel-injected, that'll help in delivering crisper throttle response. In terms of equipment, the BX 250 gets disc brakes at the front and rear, upside-down telescopic front fork, aluminum alloy wheels and a blacked out chassis which looks really good. The company hasn't given the dimensions, but the bike has a very good ground clearance.
India relevance?
There is no competition for the Benelli BX 250 in India.
Launch plans?
DSK Benelli will launch the BX 250 within this calendar year. While the company was tightlipped about the price tag, we believe it’ll be close to Rs 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). And yes, this bike will be sold as a completely-knocked-down (CKD) unit.
