The Benelli Caffenero 150 has been spotted undergoing trials in Pune. This touring-focussed scooter will be positioned as a lifestyle product, a rival to the upcoming Aprilia SR 150.
The Caffenero 150 has been aerodynamically designed to improve comfort levels during long hauls and it comes with top notch components to give it a premium feel. The Caffenero 150 is powered by a relatively modern 150cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, which is mated to a CVT transmission. It rides on 35mm telescopic forks at the front and dual hydraulic springs in the rear. The rear suspension’s preload can be adjusted in five levels, which is a first in class feature in the scooter segment. Both the wheels come with a single 247mm disc brake with a single-piston calliper.
Tipping the scale at 150 kilograms, the Caffenero 150 isn’t a light scooter which might not make it popular among the majority of scooter buyers in the country. Even though the Caffenero 150 will be expected to generate volumes for the company, it will be positioned as a lifestyle product rather than a mainstream mass market scooter. The Caffenero 150 will be the most affordable two-wheeler in Benelli’s line-up, and just like the rest of the Benelli range, will be locally assembled at DSK Motowheels’ factory in Wai, Maharashtra.
