DSK Motowheels chairman Mr. Shirish Kulkarni has revealed that Benelli is targeting the sale of over 3,000 motorcycles in India, this year.
Last week, the Italian manufacturer marked its entry into India by launching five motorcycles at one go. The motorcycles are spread over a wide price bracket, stretching from Rs 2.83 lakh for the entry-level TNT 300 right up to Rs 11.81 lakh for the litre-class TNT 1130. These motorcycles will be sold through the nine dealer outlets across the country.
All five models are imported into the country through the completely knocked down (CKD) route and are assembled at DSK Motowheels’ facility in Wai, Maharashtra. The local assembly has give Benelli an edge in terms of pricing as the CKD models fall under a lower tax bracket. And while 3,000 in annual sales might seem like a very optimistic number for a premium motorcycle manufacturer in its first operational year, Benelli has pinned its hopes on its Italian heritage and the products’ competitive pricing to help it achieve this target.
