- Benelli Tornado 400 launched in Europe
- Gets a 399cc, parallel-twin engine
- Could be launched in India
The Benelli Tornado 400 was unveiled at the EICMA 2023 in November and has now made its way to the European market. There it will take on the Aprilia RS457, KTM RC390, Kawasaki Ninja 400 as well as the Yamaha R3.
Designed with the same language as the other motorcycles in the Tornado line-up, the Tornado 400 is curvy yet comes with sharp lines all over its bodywork. It gets a vertically styled LED headlamp, full-fairing and clip-on bars. The rear section gets a raised, split-setup that adds to its sporty look.
Underneath the fairing is a 399cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin motor with an output of 47.6bhp to comply with A2 license restrictions. It uses a six-speed gearbox to transfer power to the rear wheel. This motor is plonked in a tubular steel frame with a single-sided swingarm. Suspension is handled by 37mm inverted forks and a monoshock. That said, the braking duties are handled by Nissin calipers at both ends.
The Benelli Tornado 400 lists on-par features like full-LED lighting, a full-colour TFT with Bluetooth smartphone, USB charging and TPMS as well. Now, since the motorcycle competes in a segment that is gaining popularity, it is likely that Benelli could be looking to launch the motorcycle in India sometime this year or early 2025.
