Benelli has taken the wraps off the Leoncino 250 in Malaysia. The bike is priced at RM 14,688 (approx. Rs 2.51 lakhs) there.
The Leoncino 250 borrows its design from its bigger sibling, the Leoncino 500 that was recently launched in India. It sports a round, full-LED headlamp, a cylindrical LED tail lamp along with LED indicators. Moreover, the bike gets a tear-drop shaped fuel-tank, a single-piece seat and a short tail section. The Leoncino 250, like its bigger sibling, gets a tyre-hugger mounted number plate holder. The exhaust on the Leoncino 250 has also been redesigned. Benelli is offering the Leoncino 250 in three colour options; Pearl Brown, Italian Red and Titanium Grey.
Under its tubular trellis frame is a 249cc, single-cylinder, DOHC engine that is rated at 26.8bhp at 10,500rpm and 21Nm of torque at 9,000rpm. The motor comes mated to a six-speed gearbox and chain final drive. Braking hardware on the Leoncino 250 consists of a 280mm petal disc held on by a four-piston hydraulic calliper at the front along with a 240mm petal disc with a single-piston calliper for the rear. Meanwhile, the bike rides on 17-inch wheels at both ends suspended by 41mm inverted forks at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear.
In terms of features, the Leoncino 250 will with a dual-channel ABS and a small LCD instrument cluster with a unique-looking tachometer. The Leoncino is expected to be launched in India by the end of 2019 or by early 2020 with a price tag of around Rs 1.8 lakhs to Rs 2 lakhs. It will go up against the Bajaj Dominar 400 and the Royal Enfield Classic 500 in the country.
