It was at EICMA 2015 when Benelli unveiled their first modern retro- the Leoncino. And now after a year and at the same place, the Italian manufacturer has unveiled the production version of the Leoncino.
The Leoncino will rival the Ducati Scrambler Sixty2 in every sense. The styling of the Benelli has been inspired from its heritage – sculpted fuel tank, elegant side profile and a round headlamp unit with LED daylight-running lamp. The highlight of this bike is the presence of the Lion of Pesaro on the front fender.
The engine on the Leoncino is the newly developed 500cc parallel-twin engine. This heart produces 47bhp and 45Nm of peak torque and gets electronic fuel injection and liquid cooling. It is mated to a six-speed transmission. The front suspension is made of beefy 50mm USD forks, while the rear gets a laterally mounted monoshock. The Italian manufacturer will offer this motorcycle in two versions - standard and trail. While the standard version gets 17-inch wheel at the front and rear, the trail gets 19-inch front with trail oriented tyres.
Knowing DSK Benelli and its bullish strategy towards the Indian market, we’re expecting the Leoncino to be launched in India sometime next year. The pricing should be between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 6 lakh.
Stay tuned!
