Benelli is going to launch the ABS version of the TNT 600GT in December. As with the TNT 600i, we can expect this safety feature to bump up the price of the TNT 600GT by Rs 30,000.
While customers do not appreciate spending additional Rs 30,000 on an identical looking motorcycle, the importance of ABS system cannot be over stated. Given the benefits of an ABS system and the relatively small percentage of the bump in sticker price, it is well worth the extra money. Initially, the Benelli TNT 600GT will be sold in two versions - standard and ABS. However once the dealerships run out of existing stock of the standard version, Benelli will phase out the motorcycle.
Though Benelli did take its own time in coming up with ABS for these bikes, it is unquestionably a sensible move to offer it as standard. Government regulations requiring ABS as standard fitment for motorcycles above 125cc will come into force by 2018, and we can expect other manufacturers to follow suit. The company’s next launches, the Tornado 302R and the TRK 502 will get ABS as a standard fitment. The Benelli TNT 600GT will share the market space with the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Ducati Scrambler.
