- TRK 502, TRK 502X India launch tomorrow
- Could be aggressively priced
- Rivals Versys 650, V-Strom 650
Benelli will launch their most anticipated middle-weight bikes, the TRK 502 and the TRK 502X in India tomorrow. These bikes are being launched at the time where there’s a big demand for entry-level premium adventure bikes.
The Italian maker was one of the first few to show interest in the middle-weight touring and adventure segment when it unveiled the concept versions of these bikes at the EICMA Show in Italy. Two years later, the bikes are ready to hit the Indian market. The TRK 502X is an adventure bike that rides on spoke wheels, a 19-inch wheel in the front and 17-inch at the rear with dual-sport tyres. The TRK 502, on the other hand, is a touring model with 17-inch alloy wheels and road-biased tyres. Rest of the cycle parts are shared by both the Benellis.
These bikes are powered by the 500cc parallel-twin engine that churns out 47bhp and 45Nm of peak torque. The motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox that transfers power to the rear wheel via a chain drive. The gear ratios on both the bikes are likely to be different from each other, to suit its nature. To boost its touring capability, the bike gets a 20-litre fuel tank capacity. The bikes further get 50mm upside down front forks and adjustable rear monoshock while braking is handled by a pair of 320mm front discs and a 260mm rear disc along with the dual-channel ABS.
We are expecting the price tags between Rs 4.7 lakhs and Rs 6 lakhs (ex-showroom) for these bikes. Such pricing might help the company bring in good numbers, as its nearest rivals, the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Suzuki V-Strom 650 are priced on the higher side.
