- Benelli-Mahavir Group partners to sell bikes in India
- Assembly plant will come in Telangana by October
- Bullish about the Indian market
Italian bike maker Benelli will resume its India operations from October with a new Hyderabad-based partner, Mahavir Group. This Indian company has set up a new subsidiary Adishwar Auto Ride India (AARI) for the same.
Benelli found a new partner after its previous partner DSK Motowheels ran into financial problems. This new alliance signed an MOU with the government of Telangana to set up a new 3 acres plant in the region. This is where the TNT300, 302R and the TNT 600i will begin assembly from October. Before that, the company needs to get these products ARAI certified yet again as the sales and distribution will be done through new entity.
AARI is in the process of integrating 18 Benelli dealerships under it and will also add more dealers in the near future. The new bikes will start reaching showrooms from October. But till then, the dealerships will be able to focus only on the servicing aspect of the business. The new alliance is also bullish about the Indian market and plans to take its overall market share to 30 per cent by 2020. In order to reach this figure, the company has planned a series of new bike launches this year as well as next year.
Mahavir Group is a business entity with interests in automotive industry. It runs Mercedes-Benz, Skoda and Indian Motorcycle dealerships. This is the first time it’s entering the assembling and manufacturing business.
