Earlier slated to be launched in mid-June, the manufacturer now plans to reveal its first faired motorcycle in India by the last week of July. The Benelli Tornado 302 is a fully faired motorcycle based on the Benelli TNT 300. It shares the same 300cc in-line 2 cylinder mill as its naked sibling which produces 35bhp at 12000rpm and 27Nm of peak torque at 9000rpm and is mated to a six-speed transmission.
The bike will be equipped with ABS as standard- a first in the 300cc class and uses 260mm petal discs at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear. It also features 41mm inverted forks at the front, while the rear gets an adjustable shock absorber with preload adjustment.
Although the design of the rear end is similar to the TNT 300, the front fairing with split headlamps and the bigger exhaust is completely new. The bike features a semi-digital instrument cluster with an analogue tachometer.
When launched, the bike will compete against the KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the upcoming TVS Apache RR 310 S.
