DSK Benelli has delayed the launch of its most anticipated bike - the Tornado 302R - by three months.
The company had earlier planned to launch this fully-faired motorcycle in January. However, DSK Benelli is waiting to get an approval for its BS-IV compliant model which is expected to come within the next few weeks. As per the policy, all new bikes that will launch after April 1, 2017 will need to meet BS-IV regulations, which the model displayed at the Auto Expo didn't fulfill.
DSK Benelli has already frozen the final design and the components for the Tornado 302R. This bike is based on its naked sibling - the TNT 300 - and will compete with the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the Yamaha YZF-R3 when launched. The 302R is powered by a parallel-twin cylinder engine which produces 36bhp at 12,000rpm and 27Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm. Transmission is a six-speed one. Built around a trestle frame, the Tornado features 41mm upside down forks up front and on the rear swing arm, a monoshock with adjustable preload. It sports Metzeler tyres, alloy wheels, a 260mm disc up front and a 240mm disc for the rear.
Benelli bikes are known for the exhaust sound and with the Tornado 302R, it plans to market the same aspect to appeal to the maximum buyers. The Tornado 302R will be launched in the second half of March at a price tag which should be mouth watering.
