Bike maker Benelli has officially launched the TRK 251 in Malaysia. The quarter-litre touring motorcycle is based on the middle-weight TRK 502 and has been priced at RM13,888 in Malaysia which converts to Rs 2,37,609 in India.
Based on the TRK 502, the TRK 251 follows a similar design language but with smaller dimensions overall. The tourer features a windshield with a beak-like front end flanked by muscular side panels extending towards the fuel tank. The bike comes with high-rise bars, neutral set foot pegs offering a comfortable and upright riding stance. The motorcycle featured LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs as opposed to conventional halogen bulbs on the TRK 502 models sold in India. Turn indicators and tail lamp continues to be LED units. The instrument console is a monochrome LED display flanked by tell-tale lights on either side.
Powering the TRK 251, as the name suggests is a 249cc single-cylinder DOHC motor with fuel-injection registering 26.8bhp at 10,500rpm and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. For cycle parts, the motorcycle is suspended by inverted forks at the front and a monoshock for the rear. Braking is taken care of by a 280mm disc with floating caliper and a 240mm disc with single-piston caliper at the rear.
In the Malaysian market, Benelli is offering the TRK 251 with the choice of three colour shades- Rudy Red, Titanium Grey and Jet Black. Expect Benelli to launch the TRK 251 in India towards the end of 2019 or early 2020. Price-wise, expect the quarter-litre tourer to be priced around Rs 2 lakhs-Rs 2.2 lakhs mark. In India, the TRK 251 will compete against the Kawasaki Versys X-300 displacement-wise and the Royal Enfield Himalayan on the price-front.
