Benelli officials have confirmed that its adventure tourer, Trk 502, will launch 'sometime after the launch of the Tornado 302R'. The reason quoted for the delay is clearances from ARAI, which has to certify the model, are still pending.
Considering the fact that the Tornado 302R will launch in January, we can be reasonably certain that the Trk 502 won't launch within a couple of months of it. We're betting on a March or April launch, so that the company can start the new financial year on a positive note.
The Trk 502 is a twin-cylinder adventure-touring motorcycle that will compete with the likes of the Kawasaki Versys 650. It will not cannibalise the sales of its sibling, the TNT 600GT, as the Trk will be far more off-road focused with its light weight, knobbly tyres, spoked rims and lower price point. It will sit somewhere between the upcoming KTM 390 Adventure/BMW G310GS and the Kawasaki Versys 650 in the Indian motorcycling landscape.
