Benelli is scheduled to launch the TRK 502 in India on 18 February, 2019. The bike will be the first launch after Benelli announced its alliance with Adishwar Auto Ride India this year. So, here's what to expect from the upcoming adventure-touring bike from Benelli.
Design
The TRK 502 is a adventure-touring motorcycle and sports a tall windscreen, and beefy fuel tank along with chiseled tank extensions; common design cues of the segment. However, the TRK 502, gets aggressively angled, twin-headlamps with LED DRLs and a long nose-like structure complete with intakes that look like nostrils. It does bring to mind a dragon from a famous Japanese anime. The TRK 502 sports a split seat and luggage rack along with a high-mounted exhaust an engine guard and knuckle guards for better off-road capabilities. Talking about going off-road, the bike will also be available with spoke wheels and be sold as the TRK 502X.
Engine
The Benelli TRK 502's steel trellis frame houses a 500cc, parallel-twin engine that produces 47bhp and 45Nm of torque. This unit is mated to a six-speed gearbox and final chain drive.
Cycle parts
The TRK 502 rides on 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends with road-biased tyres. Meanwhile, the TRK 502X is equipped with spoke wheels; 19-inch front and 17-inch at the rear. Suspension duties are handled by beefy 50mm inverted front forks and a rear monoshock.
The bike comes to a halt using twin 320mm discs upfront and a 260mm disc at the rear along with a dual-channel ABS a standard. It gets a 20-litre fuel tank and tips the scales at 213kg.
Price
The Benelli TRK 502 will be brought to India via the CKD (completely knocked down) route and be assembled here. We expect it to be priced around Rs 4.7 lakhs to Rs 6 lakhs, ex-showroom. It will compete against the Kawasaki Versys 650 and Suzuki VStrom 650 XT in the country.
