Benelli India has re-entered the Indian two-wheeler market by launching two new motorcycles today, the TRK 502 and its adventure-focussed variant, TRK 502X. The TRK 502X is priced at Rs 5.4 lakhs (ex-showroom, India) which is the introductory price for the online bookings of the motorcycle which have commenced today. Seen up front, the motorcycle has a beak-like design which is intimidating and aggressive. The motorcycle features twin headlamp design with LED DRLs positioned below the lamps. It also gets LED turn indicators and a large windscreen. The motorcycle comes with crash guards on either side as standard equipment.
Positioned behind the windscreen is a semi-digital instrument console featuring an analogue tachometer on the left and a digital screen on the right displaying information to the rider.
Located on the top left side of the fairing is a 5V 2A power socket to charge the cell phone or GPS navigator or other electronic devices on the move.
The TRK 502X is built using a partially exposed trellis frame using steel tubes and plates.
The middle-weight adventure tourer has a split-seat design with the seat height set at 840mm for the rider, which is on the higher side. However, the tall seat height translates to a ground clearance of 220mm which is 30mm more than the road-based TRK 502.
The TRk 502X come equipped with 50mm inverted forks up front to take on suspension duties. For braking, the motorcycle comes with 320mm twin petal discs with radially mounted calipers. Being off-road oriented, the motorcycle comes shod with 19-inch front and 17-inch spoke wheels wrapped in dual-purpose Metzeler tyres.
The motorcycle is powered by a 500cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled DOHC motor with fuel injection. The engine is capable of producing 47bhp of power and 45Nm of peak torque. The motor comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.
For the back, the TRK 502X comes equipped with a monoshock with preload adjustment while braking is done by a 260mm single petal disc with a single-pot caliper.
