- Benelli’s big tourer spotted
- Gets 1209cc 134bhp engine
- Likely to be launched in 2021
A few months ago, the patent pictures of Benelli’s large tourer were leaked online, confirming the presence of the motorcycle. Now, a production-ready version of the same motorcycle has been spotted, making us believe that the bike is ready to hit the production line.
This bike has been codenamed QJ1200-3 and the type-approval given to the bike is under Qianjiang name – parent company of Benelli. According to the type-approval information, the displacement of the motorcycle is 1209cc and this motor makes 134bhp, making it the most powerful Benelli. The same document reveals a top speed of 220kmph and weighs over 300kgs.
The engine is Euro IV compliant for now, but expect a Euro V motor for the European market. Unfortunately, this motorcycle wasn’t mentioned in Benelli’s leaked product launch presentation that we wrote about a few days ago. This means, this Benelli is likely to be launched next year.
Once launched, this Benelli will go against the other big tourers like BMW R1250RT, but expect the pricing to be on the lesser side. Will this bike come to India? We think so. Even if it doesn’t bring the required sales numbers, it could become the star attraction at all Benelli showrooms.
