Bengaluru police and Royal Enfield partner to create all-women motorcycle brigade

- 15 lady sub-inspectors are a part of ‘We for Women’ brigade

- Will be patrolling across Bengaluru city astride Royal Enfield motorcycles

- Aim to ensure better women and children safety

Bengaluru City Police has joined hands with Royal Enfield to create an all-women motorcycle brigade – ‘We for Women.’ The troop will comprise of 15 lady police sub-inspectors who will be patrolling across Bengaluru city astride Royal Enfield motorcycles. 

The main objective of forming this brigade is to ensure better women and children safety in Bengaluru. The department formed this brigade by selecting lady inspectors who were passionate about riding. In order to make them capable of handling various situations and to hone their riding skills, these women were provided special training in two phases. Phase 1 comprised of introducing them to Royal Enfield models including the Himalayan, Interceptor 650 and the Classic 350 Signals. This was followed by the second phase in which the riders were trained to ride in challenging traffic conditions. 

With this initiative, Bengaluru police department not only aims to increase women and children safety but also strives to break stereotypes about women riding motorcycles. The formation of ‘We for Women’ brigade was commemorated by conducting a ride from Bengaluru to Nandi Hills and back. The ride was flagged off by Shri Bhaskar Rao, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru city, at the office of City Armed Reserve Headquarters, Bengaluru.
