At the on-going 11th edition of the EV Expo 2019 held at Pagati Maidan in Delhi, the Indian arm of Chinese electric two-wheeler manufacturer, Benling India has unveiled a new e-scooter offering, the Aura. It is the company’s first high-speed e-scooter that will join its existing product portfolio of low-speed scooters Kriti, Icon and Falcon. The pricing of the new e-scooter will be officially announced in the first quarter of 2020 and will be available to Pan India.
The Aura is a retro-styled scooter but with modern machinery and features. It gets a remote keyless system, USB charging facility, anti-theft alarm and an additional rear-wheel integrated locking system. Besides that, it also comes with a Breakdown Smart Assistance System (BSAS) feature which will restart the scooter and continue to run despite any breakdown in the system, preventing the user from getting stuck midway through the intended journey.
For the powertrain, the Aura is equipped with a 2500 BLDC electric motor paired to a detachable 72V/40Ah lithium-ion battery. On a full charge, which takes about four hours, the scooter is rated to return a range of 120km and achieve a top speed of 60kmph. It is also equipped with a remote keyless system, USB charging facility, anti-theft alarm and an additional rear-wheel integrated locking system.
