Electric two-wheeler maker, BGauss has updated its portfolio with the launch of its stylish new BG D15 electric scooter. With an appealing design and modern features, this made-in-India electric scooter is a package that should appeal to the buyers in our market.
The stylish and appealing design of the new BG D15 is complemented by modern features, such as full-LED lighting, an LCD screen, and apps. Furthermore, the scooter uses an all-metal body that enhances the premium quotient of the vehicle while making it more robust and long-lasting. The list doesn’t end here. It also gets a removable battery for added convenience of recharging anywhere, in-built navigation, digital speedometer, keyless start, USB port for mobile charging, and call and notification alerts on the BGauss application.
What’s more? The round headlight with integrated LED DRLs, a dual-tone finish to the front apron, curvy body panels, and 16-inch alloy wheels give it a styling and utility edge over its rivals. The 16-inch wheels and telescopic forks, for example, enhance the ride quality and deliver the utmost comfort over uneven surfaces. In fact, the rear springs are three-step adjustable, allowing the rider to tune the setup as per their needs. The bigger wheels also give it better ground clearance so you can roll over big speed breakers or undulations without worrying about scraping the underbody of the scooter.
People living close to the sea need not worry about rusting issues either as the company has successfully tested the D15 with 500 hours of Salt Spray test. This has been achieved through a five-step Cathodic Electro Deposition (CED) coating process.
Apart from the tech mentioned above, the new BG D15 also packs as many as 20 safety features. Among various safety aspects is the waterproof, IP67 rated, electric motor and a battery with protection against rain and dust. Furthermore, it comes with a 250mm high water wading limit, so you don’t have to worry about water-clogged roads during monsoons. The safety net also includes a roll-over sensor, limp home mode, theft-alert system, and a side-stand sensor. The roll-over sensor prevents the scooter from accelerating in a rolled over condition. To ensure authenticity, the company has added encrypted CAN communication. This ensures that critical components used in the vehicle are BGauss authorised.
The BG D15 draws power from a 3.2kWh Li-ion battery pack that promises a range of 115km per charge. The 100 per cent recharge time is rated at five and a half hours. A distance-to-empty meter warns you about the remaining range so that you recharge the vehicle in time and are not stranded in the middle of the road.
In terms of performance, the BG D15 can accelerate from zero to 40kmph in seven seconds in the Sports mode. A rider can also use the BG D15 electric scooter in Eco mode for better range and Reverse mode for parking convenience. The payload rating stands at 150kg which, along with a 77cm seat length, is sufficient to carry two adults comfortably. The performance is backed by drum brakes on both ends and a combined braking system (CBS). The CBS tech evenly distributes the braking force between both ends and reduces the stopping distance.
The vehicle availability is being given special consideration and the company is focusing on expanding its footprint in the country via a robust dealer network in all the Tier I and Tier II markets. BGauss currently has 52 active showrooms all over India and it will soon add 43 more outlets in the country, making it 100 by December 2022. The company will also assist its customers with annual maintenance support, mobile app support, roadside assistance, and pick and drop facilities. Interested buyers can book the BG D15 electric scooter from the company website or at the BGauss dealership.
