- BGauss launches D15 electric scooter
- Comes in two variants – D15i and D15 Pro
- Prices start at Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom)
BGauss, a Pune-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has recently launched its flagship electric scooter, the D15. The prices of the e-scooter start from Rs 1 lakh for the D15i and go up to Rs 1.15 lakh (both are ex-showroom, Delhi post FAME II subsidy) for the D15 Pro model.
The difference between the D15i and D15 Pro is in terms of the battery pack; while the former gets a single lithium-ion battery, the latter gets an additional VRLA (lead-acid battery). Moreover, the Pro variant also offers app-based connectivity, which the other trim misses out on. The design of the D15 is quite unique as it gets a retro-inspired round headlamp, a compact and boxy front apron, and a long and angular tail section.
The most attention-seeking aspect of the D15 is its large 16-inch alloy wheels, something we have seen only in the Okinawa OKHI-90 e-scooter in India until now. Propelling the D15 is a hub-mounted motor with a peak power output of 3.1kW and torque output of 110Nm. It can attain a top speed of 60kmph which varies depending on the selected riding mode; it gets two of them including Eco and Sports. As for the battery pack, it’s a 3.2kWh unit that is claimed to deliver a range of 115km. It can be had with a portable fast charger which juices it up in two and a half hours while the conventional charger takes double that time to charge the battery.
The BGauss D15 will compete against the likes of the Okinawa OKHI-90, Ola S1 Pro, Ather 450X, TVS iQube, and the Bajaj Chetak electric.
